There are some changes to the Notification scheme. Previously, we had a "Notification Filter" in User Settings. But there was some confusion about this, as it was only used to HIDE blogs inside the Main Forum, mostly to filter out Race Blogs & Social/Congratulations blogs.
.
Meanwhile, as the site has evolved, there have been concerns that there are many coloured Notifications at the top, and there is no way to control them, even though members may not be interested in some of the blogs.

As per the new scheme, the "Top-Line Notifications" filter will be used to control the Top-Line coloured notifications. Details:
.
1. There are no filters in the main Forum anymore. Mostly, these filters were being used to hide Race Blogs & Social. Social & Race Blogs do NOT appear in the Main Forum, anymore. So, these do NOT need to be explicitly hidden.
.
2. Social Blogs & Race Blogs will be available in their OWN sections, for those who are interested. These will NOT appear in the Main Blog. (There is no need to hide them).
.
3. The Top-Line Coloured Notifications can now be filtered. If you do not wish to see any of the coloured Top-Line Notifications, you just need to go into User Settings and uncheck the respective checkboxes for:
.
a. Social/Congratulations Blogs
b. Race Blogs
c. Timeline
d. Trip
e. Imaginary
Once these boxes are unchecked, you will NOT receive the corresponding coloured Top-Line notifications anymore.
.
4. There is a new Blog Category, called Travelogue for the long Trip stories. Travelogues have their own separate section, but they will also appear in the Main Forum.
.
5. To the right side of every Blog, it shows what Category of blog it is - Site-Related, Travel Question, Social, Rail-Fanning, etc. These have now been Hyperlinked, i.e., you can now click on them. When you click on them, you will see ALL blogs of the Same Category. For example, if you click on the "Rail-Fanning" link, then you will see a filtered list of ALL RailFanning blogs.
.
Thanks.
