The facilities at this railway station are bare minimal and the Konkan Railways have neglected it just like many other stations in the section. Here is my experience during our journey in March 2022:
1. Platforms: There are two platforms at this station with PF no 1 being the main platform while PF no 2 is the unpaved one. If your train arrives on Platform no 2, then you are going to have a difficult time. You have to climb down the ground from the outstation train using the iron rails on...
more... the coaches (most difficult part), wait for the train to depart, cross the tracks, climb up to platform no 1 and finally climb about 15 steps to get out. It is a difficult task for youngsters, let alone the plight of senior citizens. If your train arrives at PF2 and you have senior citizens accompanying, drop the idea of de-boarding and end your journey at Vaibhavwadi or any other station with proper platform. One of the passengers during our journey was about to fall due to the height while getting down from the train. I've raised complaint on the railmadad portal but they have gone to deaf ears like always. There is a ramp from platform no 1 towards Madgaon end which takes you to the road.
2. Autorickshaw: They charge Rs 400 for 3 passengers (also called as Special Rickshaw) to take you to Rajapur city/ Rajapur MSRTC Depot. Also available on sharing basis at about 150 per person. Rates as on March 2022.
3. MSRTC BUS: ST buses were available during the arrival of Konkan kanya , mandovi and sindhudurg express but they are unreliable. Try to call Rajapur ST depot an hour before to check the status of the bus.
Overall: Konkan Railway has to make the second platform proper and build an overbridge for crossing. You cannot prevent rail accidents when you are yourself asking people to cross railway tracks. Better to give basic amenities rather than showing gimmicks about world class facilities.
Kindly note this is a Taluka place and holds importance but still neglected.
Cheers,
Vivek
