Compared to other regions, Kerala has the fewest operational MEMU trains, with only 10 fully operational. The MEMU service between Kannur and Mangaluru, spanning 132 km, is currently not operational. Currently, there are 12 rakes (coaches) for five trains with 8 coaches for the remaining five. A three-phase MEMU rake can carry approximately 3,600 passengers, including both seated and standing.
