There have been several recent concerns about members marking Red to Travel Tips without any visible cause. This is the member's choice, and the site does not interfere/intrude into this. It is upto that member's discretion/courtesy if he/she wishes to explain the signal or not.
.
If...
more... a chronic spam pattern is detected, then we may warn the member or take other action like taking away their power to rate Tips, etc, but otherwise, we don't interfere.
.
For a Travel Tip to glow green, you need to have at least 5 more greens than reds. So a Final Green Signal is a mark of confidence in that Travel Tip. If the Tip is glowing green, then it DOES NOT MATTER if there are a few reds. The FINAL COLOUR will reflect the consensus of the public, and that's what matters. In the long run, the merit of the Tip will be reflected in the Final colour.
.
With regard to Member Statistics (soon coming), you will get zonewise, stationwise, trainwise details on the number of Green, Yellow & Red Travel Tips. So, if a Tip get 15 greens and 4 reds, that Tip will count as "1 Green Travel Tip". So, once again, individual reds and greens don't matter. We only give credence to the "net" worth of that Tip. There will be NO statistic on the number of individual greens or reds, since that is a meaningless figure. Only the net final worth of the Tip really matters.
.
All members are requested to accept a few reds here and there. If your Tip really proves useful, it will eventually glow green, even though it may get a few reds here and there.

Thanks.
