An RTI response from SWR confirmed the shortage of MEMU rakes and terminal constraints in Kolar. Commuters, including IT professionals and students, are unhappy with the delay as the existing diesel trains are overcrowded and the journey takes over 3 hours, leading to exhaustion. An MEMU train with 16 coaches can accommodate over 1,000 passengers, providing a more efficient and faster alternative to the current DEMU trains.
