The police faced difficulty clearing the jam, which lasted throughout the night, with travelers still facing delays of 3-4 hours the next morning. The police attributed the frequent traffic jams to the heavy traffic of coal and ash-laden vehicles, along with frequent breakdowns. The Urjaanchala Civil Society blamed the increase in coal and ash transportation on the highway without its expansion to four lanes, and accused authorities of neglecting vehicle fitness checks and overloading. This has resulted in frequent breakdowns and spreading of ash on the highway, leading to significant disruption and public distress. They demanded immediate action, including four-lane highway construction, from the Chief Minister.
