To prevent unauthorized entry in AC local trains, surprise ticket checks resulted in the penalization of almost 13,000 unauthorized passengers and collection of Rs 43.64 lakh in fines during April and June. WR appeals to the public to travel with valid tickets.
WR has also unveiled a Rs 2,206 crore plan for passenger amenities, including Rs 11.7 crore for Divyangjan-friendly infrastructure. This includes ramps and railings, specially designed toilets and drinking water booths, reserved parking spaces, braille signages, tactile paths, and wheelchairs. 69 lifts are operational at 24 stations, and 13 additional lifts are under construction. Another 13 lifts are planned after the monsoon season.
