they could have ideally made it separate train by removing this slip. one can run via Mysore and one can run via shortest route

From what I gathered, the forest department doesn't approve running another pair of trains. I can't comment much on the extent to which adding just one more train will affect their freight operations but prima-facie it doesn't sound convincing to me.
