Following the commotion and train stoppage, RPF personnel and several railway officials arrived at the scene. After calming down the agitated crowd, train operations were resumed from Jhargram station after half an hour. Daily commuters said that their wages are affected due to delays caused by the frequent stopping of local trains. They complained that the local trains are often delayed because of stopping for goods trains, causing them to reach their workplaces late. Five people were arrested under the Railway Act for disrupting the Steel Express and local train operations at Jhargram station. A case was also filed against 60-70 people at the RPF post. The authorities are investigating the matter and identifying other suspects. In an earlier incident, railway staff were held captive at Govindpur Halt after local train passengers protested. Another passenger filed a complaint in Tatanagar. The commotion also caused a delay in the Ranchi-Howrah Vande Bharat Express, which reached Kharagpur six minutes late from Tatanagar.
