Southern Railway’s plan to divert trains opposed

The Residents Awareness Association of Coimbatore (RAAC), the Coimbatore Railway Struggle Committee, and the Thanthai Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam (TPDK) are protesting against the Southern Railway's plan to divert trains via Irugur-Podanur, bypassing Coimbatore Junction. The affected trains include 22639/22640 Alleppey - Chennai Central, 12625/12626 Thiruvananthapuram Central - New Delhi Super Fast Express, 22503/22504 Kanyakumari - Dibrugarh Express, 22969/22970 Ernakulam - Patna Junction, 22677/22678 Kochuveli - Yeshwantpur Express, and 22643-22644 Ernakulam - Patna Express. The railway claims that this diversion would save time, as the journey between Podanur and Irugur takes 10-15 minutes via the Irugur-Podanur route, compared to 40-45 minutes through Coimbatore Junction. However, the RAAC, the Coimbatore Railway Struggle Committee, and the TPDK are strongly against this move and plan to fight it.

Isse affect hone waali trains mein 22639/22640 Alleppey - Chennai Central, 12625/12626 Thiruvananthapuram Central - New Delhi Super Fast Express, 22503/22504 Kanyakumari - Dibrugarh Express, 22969/22970 Ernakulam - Patna Junction, 22677/22678 Kochuveli - Yeshwantpur Express, aur 22643-22644 Ernakulam - Patna Express shamil hain. Railway ka kehna hai ki is diversion se time bachayega, kyunki Podanur aur Irugur ke beech ka journey Irugur-Podanur route se 10-15 minutes mein pura hota hai, jabki Coimbatore Junction se 40-45 minutes lagte hain. Lekin RAAC, Coimbatore Railway Struggle Committee, aur TPDK is move ke against zor se virodh kar rahe hain aur isse ladne ki planning kar rahe hain.
