Prasad Yadav to provide affordable AC travel to the masses. Currently, the trains use ICF coaches, which are made of steel and have a lifespan of 20 years. The decision to replace the coaches was taken as the existing ones have reached their end of life. The replacement process will begin with the Northern Railway's trains, followed by the North Eastern Railway's. The North Eastern Railway operates two Garib Rath trains, one from Lucknow to Raipur and another from Lucknow to Bhopal. Additionally, there is a Garib Rath train running from Varanasi to Anand Vihar and another from Saharsa to Amritsar via Gorakhpur. The Garib Rath fares are around 40% cheaper compared to the third AC fares of regular trains. Currently, 26 Garib Rath trains operate across the country.
