Indian Railways, the world's fourth-largest rail system, has implemented numerous safety measures in recent years, significantly improving train operations safety. Serious train accidents have declined from 473 in 2000-01 to 40 in 2022-23. Key initiatives include the National Rail Safety Fund (RRSK), which allocated 1 trillion rupees in 2017-18 for...

safety asset upgrades. This fund was extended for another five years in 2022-23 with a budget of 450 billion rupees. Other measures include the KAVACH system, a national automatic train protection (ATP) system that assists loco pilots and automatically applies brakes if necessary. The KAVACH system has been deployed on 1,465 route kilometers and 121 locomotives. Electronic interlocking (EI) has been installed at 6,586 stations, and automatic block signaling (ABS) has been implemented on 4,111 route kilometers on high-density routes. A total of 11,137 gates have been interlocked with signals as of October 31, 2023. All unmanned level crossings on broad gauge routes were completed by January 2019. Vigilance Control Devices (VCDs) are now installed in all locomotives to alert loco pilots, and Fog Safety Devices (FSDs) are provided to pilots in fog-affected areas. Advanced track recording cars are used for maintenance, and track circuiting has been completed at 6,609 stations as of May 31, 2023. Ultrasonic testing of rails helps identify problems and ensures track safety. A Bridge Management System (BMS) provides 24/7 access to bridge information. Advanced technologies like continuous water level monitoring, drone inspections, and 3D scans of riverbeds are employed for bridge inspection. The Online Monitoring of Rolling Stock System (OMRS) and Wheel Impact Load Detector (WILD) are advanced technologies used for predictive maintenance. RFID tags are being applied to rolling stock for automatic tracking. The Indian Railways is progressively replacing traditional ICF design coaches with LHB design coaches, further enhancing safety.

Indian Railways, dunia ka chautha sabse bada railway system hai, jo America, Russia aur China ke baad aata hai. Isne recent saalon mein train operations ki safety ko behtar banane ke liye kai safety measures lagae hain. Serious train accidents 2000-01 mein 473 se ghat kar 2022-23 mein 40 ho gaye...

hain. Kuchh important initiatives mein National Rail Safety Fund (RRSK) bhi hai, jisme 2017-18 mein 1 lakh crore rupees lagae gaye the safety assets ko upgrade karne ke liye. Ye fund 2022-23 mein aur 5 saalon ke liye badha diya gaya aur iske liye 45,000 crore rupees ka budget diya gaya hai. Dusre measures mein KAVACH system bhi hai, jo ki ek national automatic train protection (ATP) system hai aur loco pilots ki madad karta hai aur agar pilot brakes nahin lagate hain, to ye system khud se brakes laga deta hai. KAVACH system ko ab tak 1,465 Rkm aur 121 locomotives pe laga diya gaya hai. 6,586 stations pe electronic interlocking (EI) lagae gaye hain, aur high-density routes pe 4,111 RKm pe automatic block signaling (ABS) lagae gaye hain. 31 October 2023 tak 11,137 gates ko signals ke saath interlock kiya gaya hai. January 2019 tak broad gauge routes pe sabhi unmanned level crossings ko complete kar liya gaya tha. Vigilance Control Devices (VCDs) ab sabhi locomotives mein lagae jaate hain, jisse loco pilots ko alert rakha ja sake, aur Fog Safety Devices (FSDs) ko fog-affected areas mein pilots ko provide kiya jaata hai. Advanced track recording cars ka use maintenance ke liye kiya ja raha hai, aur 31 May 2023 tak 6,609 stations pe track circuiting complete ho gaya hai. Rails ki ultrasonic testing se problems ki identification ki ja rahi hai, jisse track ki safety ki confirmation hoti hai. A Bridge Management System (BMS) 24/7 bridge information ka access deta hai. New technologies jaise continuous water level monitoring, drone inspections aur riverbeds ki 3D scans bridge inspection ke liye use ki ja rahi hain. Online Monitoring of Rolling Stock System (OMRS) aur Wheel Impact Load Detector (WILD) jaisi advanced technologies predictive maintenance ke liye use ki ja rahi hain. Rolling stock pe RFID tags lagae ja rahe hain, jisse automatic tracking possible ho. Indian Railways traditional ICF design coaches ko LHB design coaches se replace karne ka kaam jaari hai, jisse safety aur behtar ho rahi hai.
