Shoranur-Mangaluru route pe parallel track possible ho sakta hai, lekin Ernakulam-Shoranur route pe curves ki wajah se yeh nahi ho paayega. Is project ka aim train ki speed aur capacity increase karna hai, kyunki current average speed 80 kmph hai aur kuchh sections mein yeh 50 kmph tak gir jaata hai.
