The electrification of the Punalur-Chengkotta railway line was completed three months ago, but trains have been operating on diesel engines due to the lack of electricity. is yet to decide on the use of electric locomotives. A trial run is planned for the locomotives. Electricity has also been supplied to the Chengkotta substation yard, as well as to parts of Tirunelveli and Virudhunagar. The construction of the Chengkotta traction substation near the railway station, which began a year ago, was commissioned last week. However, the Punalur substation, which began construction three years ago, has not yet been electrified. The railway has already paid Rs. 28 crore to KSEB for the project. abhi tak electric locomotives ke use karne ka faisla nahi le paya hai. Locomotives ke liye trial run ki jaane wali hai. Chengkotta substation yard aur Tirunelveli aur Virudhunagar ke kuchh hisso mein bhi electricity supply shuru ho gayi hai. Railway station ke paas Chengkotta traction substation ka construction ek saal pehle shuru hua tha aur pichhle hafte commission kiya gaya. Lekin, Punalur substation, jiska construction 3 saal pehle shuru hua tha, abhi tak electrified nahi ho paya hai. Railway ne is project ke liye KSEB ko 28 crore rupees de diye hain.
