சென்னை 2-ம் கட்ட மெட்ரோ ரயில் திட்டம் - 1 ரூபாய் கூட நிதி ஒதுக்காத மத்திய அரசு... ஆர்டிஐ தகவல்!

Chennai's 128 km long Metro Rail Phase 2 project, connecting 118 stations, was initially allocated 63,426 crore rupees in the 2021 Union Budget. However, despite allocations to other cities like Kochi, Nagpur, and Bengaluru, the funding for Chennai's Phase 2 remains stalled. This has been confirmed through RTI requests by activist...

Dayanand Krishnan, who received multiple responses over the past six months indicating that the funds have not been released and the files remain stuck in various departments of the Union Ministry of Finance. The Prime Minister's Office has confirmed that the Prime Minister has written 12 letters to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs since 2019 regarding the project. Despite the Union Budget announcement, the Public Investment Board has sent the Chennai Metro Rail files to the Union Cabinet Committee, which in turn, confirmed in an April RTI response that no such files have been received. This indicates that the funding for the Chennai Metro Phase 2 is stuck in different departments of the Union Ministry of Finance. While the central government has released funds for similar projects in other cities, the Chennai Metro Phase 2 remains unfunded. Construction work is ongoing across six locations by different contractors, with the Tamil Nadu government borrowing funds from state-owned banks to finance it. This has led to an increase in the state's debt burden, as acknowledged by the Tamil Nadu Finance Minister in the state budget. Despite the lack of central funds, Chennai Metro Rail officials maintain that the project is progressing as planned and that all financial resources are being mobilized by the state government to ensure its completion by 2028.

Chennai ka 128 kilometer lamba Metro Rail Phase 2 project, 118 stations ko jodta hua, 2021 ke Union Budget mein 63,426 crore rupees ka allocation mila tha. Lekin, Kochi, Nagpur, aur Bengaluru jaise doosre shaharon ko funds milne ke baad bhi, Chennai ke Phase 2 ke liye funding stuck hai....

Ye baat activist Dayanand Krishnan ke RTI requests se confirm hui hai, jinhein pichhle chhe mahino mein kai baar response aaye hain jisme bataya gaya hai ki funds release nahin kiye gaye hain aur files Union Ministry of Finance ke alag alag departments mein phansi hui hain. Prime Minister's Office ne confirm kiya hai ki Prime Minister ne 2019 se project ke baare mein Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs ko 12 letters likhe hain. Union Budget announcement ke baad bhi, Public Investment Board ne Chennai Metro Rail files ko Union Cabinet Committee ko bheja hai, jinhonne April ke RTI response mein confirm kiya hai ki unhen koi aisi files nahin mili hain. Isse pata chalta hai ki Chennai Metro Phase 2 ka funding Union Ministry of Finance ke alag alag departments mein phansa hua hai. Jabki central government ne doosre shaharon ke similar projects ke liye funds release kiye hain, Chennai Metro Phase 2 ke liye koi funding nahin diya gaya hai. Chhe alag locations mein alag alag contractors dwara construction work chal raha hai, jiske liye Tamil Nadu government state-owned banks se funds borrow kar raha hai. Isse state ka debt burden badh raha hai, jaise ki Tamil Nadu Finance Minister ne state budget mein bataya tha. Central funds na milne ke baad bhi, Chennai Metro Rail officials ka kehna hai ki project plan ke anusar chal raha hai aur 2028 tak uski completion ke liye state government saare financial resources mobilize kar raha hai.
