UPMRC Initiates Kanpur Metro’s Trial Run on MacRobertganj – Nayaganj Section

Minister ML Khattar thanked Modi for the service and announced that a Metro connection between Gurgaon and Faridabad is in the works. Meanwhile, in Kanpur, the UPMRC conducted the first trial run of the Kanpur Metro on the underground section of Line 1, from MacRobertganj Ramp to Nayaganj. The trial run, at slow speeds, aimed to assess the interaction between infrastructure and trains and identify potential faults. The line was energised on July 11th after the installation of the Third Rail System. This section, built by Gulermak – Sam India Builtwell JV, is part of Package KNPCC-05 and cost Rs. 1042.26 crore. The underground section features 4 stations and was completed in March 2024 when TBM Tatya (S92) achieved the final tunnel breakthrough. UPMRC plans to test other subsystems in the coming weeks. The Kanpur Metro Phase 1, spanning 32.385 km with 2 corridors and 30 stations, received approval in February 2019. The priority corridor (IIT Kanpur to Moti Jheel) became operational in December 2021, and the remaining portion is expected to be operational by the end of 2024.

Iske saath hi, Kanpur me, UPMRC ne Line 1 ke underground section me, MacRobertganj Ramp se Nayaganj tak Kanpur Metro ka pehla trial run kiya. Ye trial run, dhimi speed pe, infrastructure aur trains ke interaction ka jaanch karne ke liye tha aur koi bhi fault dhundne ke liye tha. Line ko July 11th ko energised kiya gaya, Third Rail System lagne ke baad. Ye section, Gulermak – Sam India Builtwell JV dwara banaya gaya, Package KNPCC-05 ka hissa hai aur iska kharcha Rs. 1042.26 crore hai.
