DMK MP demands extension of train services from Coimbatore to Pollachi
Pollachi DMK MP K. Shanmugasundaram has requested the Southern Railway to extend the Coimbatore-Bengaluru and Coimbatore-Chennai Cheran Express trains to Pollachi. He has offered to facilitate electricity connection at Pollachi junction and water supply from Aliyar River for train maintenance in exchange for the extension.

POY should be given new chennai train via CBE than extending existing. SBC POY anyway UDAY extension on paper that will eventually cater POY SBC need. People demand whichever improbable to MP and create politics over it. He could have asked TPJ train via DG which is more necessary one.
He should have asked for removal of Pollachi Kinathukadavu (25 kms stretch) from PGT division and merge with SA division. This would enable more trains in MDU CBE Sector. What interest PGT will show to improve connectivity between MDU and CBE?
If Pollachi is with SA division, many new trains can also be introduced. For example to Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad etc with maintenance at POY. Also new trains from CBE to TPJ KIK RMM TEN CAPE via DG can also be introduced.

New trains dedicated to Pollachi should be there. Call them as Anamalai express, Aliyar express Siruvani express etc
