A high-level railway meeting is scheduled in Mangaluru on Wednesday, led by Union Railway Minister V. While the official agenda mentions reviewing development plans, there are strong indications that the meeting aims to finalize the formation of a new...

Mangaluru Railway Division, potentially splitting the Palakkad Division. This decision could have significant repercussions for Kerala, as it would impact the Palakkad Division's operations and revenue. Notably, Kerala's Railway Minister, V. Abdurahman, has not received any official communication regarding this potential division. The meeting is scheduled for 10:45 AM at the Mangaluru District Panchayat Hall and will be attended by MPs, MLAs, and local representatives from Mangaluru and surrounding areas. High-ranking railway officials from Southern Railway, South-Western Railway, and Konkan Railway will also participate. Before the meeting, Minister Somayyana will visit Mangaluru Central and Mangaluru Junction stations at 9:30 AM. After the meeting, he will address the media. In response to this potential division, Kerala's Railway Minister, V. Abdurahman, has stated that he will not allow the Palakkad Division to be split. He highlighted the significant revenue generated by the Panambur port, which falls under the Palakkad Division, and the potential losses for Palakkad and Kerala's development plans if a Mangaluru division is established. He expressed concern about the lack of communication from the central government on this issue, which could impact Kerala's interests. He also mentioned that efforts are underway to abolish the Thiruvananthapuram Division and that the state government will strongly oppose these decisions.

ye meeting ek new Mangaluru Railway Division banane ke liye hai, jo Palakkad Division ko split kar sakta hai. Is decision ka Kerala pe kaafi impact pad sakta hai, kyuki ye Palakkad Division ke operations aur revenue ko affect karega. Interesting baat ye hai ki Kerala ke Railway Minister, V. Abdurahman ko is potential division ke baare mein koi official communication nahin mila hai. Meeting Mangaluru District Panchayat Hall mein subah 10:45 AM pe hai aur isme Mangaluru aur aas-paas ke areas ke MPs, MLAs aur local representatives bhi aayenge. Southern Railway, South-Western Railway aur Konkan Railway ke high-ranking railway officials bhi participate karenge. Meeting se pehle, Minister Somayyana subah 9:30 AM pe Mangaluru Central aur Mangaluru Junction stations visit karenge. Meeting ke baad, wo media ko address karenge. Is potential division ke baare mein, Kerala ke Railway Minister, V. Abdurahman ne kaha hai ki wo Palakkad Division ko split hone nahin denge. Unhone Panambur port, jo Palakkad Division ke under aata hai, se hone wali significant revenue aur Mangaluru division banne se Palakkad aur Kerala ke development plans ko hone wala potential loss, dono baaton pe light dali. Unhone is baat pe concern express kiya ki central government se is issue pe koi communication nahin hai, jiska Kerala ke interests pe impact pad sakta hai. Unhone ye bhi mention kiya ki Thiruvananthapuram Division ko abolish karne ki koshish chal rahi hai aur state government is decision ka strongly oppose karega.

As per report, Mangalore port is a revenue generation centre and if it goes out of PGT division, Kerala (railway) development will be affected. What logic is this? Whether Mangalore port exists for funding neighbouring state requirements, at the cost of own state? 🤔
PGT extended all Kerala trains to MAQ. There are 6 daily trains from Mangalore Central to Trivandrum and 4 daily trains to Chennai. But zero dedicated train from MAQ to Bangalore. Not even a single train is run by this division to Karnataka capital. Means no one travels to Bangalore but 6 train full of people travel to Trivandrum and four full train of people travel to Chennai ?!?!? 🤔 🤔

Platform constraints erupt for Gomateshwara express. It has to wait at MAJN like an orphan for 17 hours!! 🤔 🤔 🤔
SMVT MRDW is crawling for entry. But TVC Vande Bharat just goes into MAQ, with no issues. MAJN is in pathetic condition.

As a first step, let railways attach Manjeshwaram/ Nethravathi onwards up to SWR MYS division. No need to create new division or dismantle Palakkad division.
Later on, when KR merges to IR, some more realignment can be thought of.

Let MAQ station come under SWR first. Many new trains can be introduced. SWR Revenue will also increase.

Nothing will happen....In his visit to MAQ station the MosR didn't even touch upon these things. MAQ station development was there and few other things. I guess there was lot of expectation from people. Since the MoSR is also new, not sure if he is well conversant in all railway matters
