The investigation lasted three days, during which the team inspected the engine at the New Coaching Complex and measured the derailed coaches, boulder's length and width. The boulder was identified as a 90R rail piece that was used on the track until 1998. Security has been deployed to guard the 12 derailed coaches as they are evidence for the investigation and a potential case of theft.

Yeh track 1998 tak prajog hota tha. RPF Juhi prabhaari VK Yadav ne bataya ki ghatnaasthal pe pade 12 coachon ki nigrani ke liye teenon shift mein suraksha karai ja rahi hai. Har shift mein do-do jawan mustaid rahte hain. Suraksha karane ke peeche wajah yeh hai ki coach jaanch team ka hissa aur mal mukadma hai. Inke saath kisi tarah ki chhedchad na ho, iske liye nigrani karai ja rahi hai.
