The CBI arrested Senior DEN-2 Satyam Kumar Singh Patel on October 1st from the Divisional Railway Manager's office of the North Eastern Railway for allegedly demanding a bribe of Rs. 2 lakh for a Rs. 4 crore tender. The CBI had searched the engineer's flat and his residence in Chunar, where documents related to several companies and firms were recovered. Since the action against the Senior DEN-2, the bills of 30 contractors are pending, and the Divisional Railway Manager's office officials are delaying the payments, causing distress to the contractors during the festive season.
