Konkan Railway:

The Konkan Railway Corporation (KRC) is facing a severe financial crisis, jeopardizing its plans for doubling the railway line. The KRC has accumulated debts exceeding ₹7337 crores, including ₹1500 crores in bonds due for repayment in the next 4-5 years. Karnataka has refused to contribute its share of the funds required...

for doubling, rendering the project unfeasible. The KRC had sought contributions from all shareholders to cover the bond repayments, but Maharashtra declined. The Central Railway Ministry has stated that it will only provide funds if state governments contribute their respective shares. Despite the KRC being designed to merge with Indian Railways after 15 years or upon repayment of all debts, the Central Government in 2008-09 decided it would remain independent. The KRC remains independent despite its financial struggles, reliant solely on its profits to operate. Since 1993, a 40% surcharge on passenger fares and a 50% surcharge on freight transport have been levied on the Konkan Railway line due to its high construction costs, which have not been adjusted for 31 years. The KRC's proposal to double 141 kilometers of track has been rejected due to the lack of financial support from state governments, leading to its dismissal by the Railway Board and the Ministry of Finance.

Konkan Railway Corporation (KRC) ko bahut bada financial crisis aa raha hai aur is wajah se unka railway line double karne ka plan bhi khatre mein pad gaya hai. KRC par ₹7337 crore se bhi zyada ka debt hai, jismein ₹1500 crore ka bond bhi shamil hai, jiska payment aagla 4-5...

saal mein karna hai.
