Railways to restore passenger train numbers from July 1 as per nomenclature prior to COVID-19 in Mangaluru region

Starting July 1, 2024, 12 passenger trains running as Express Specials in the Mangaluru Railway Region will be renumbered as regular passenger trains. This includes trains like the Mangaluru Central-Kabaka Puttur Express Special (06485/06484) being renumbered to 56625/56626, and the Charvattur-Mangaluru Central Express Special (06491) becoming 56621. The Railways had previously introduced these Express Specials post-COVID-19, charging Express fares despite providing regular passenger services. With the renumbering, fares have been adjusted to reflect passenger train rates.
