In recent days I've seen unhealthy obsession of members with trains and stations.

For example the Vikramshila guy, he left the site over a stoppage rumor. The Malda guy, he's inconsolable after Farakka went to BLGT. The Ara, Patna and Sasaram guys, they think people are jealous of a city they probably won't even visit. The Kakinada and Khammam guys, they went on abusing other cities. Or the anti Vande Bharat guy, leaving no stone unturned to create controversy.

At the end of the day, trains are just a transport medium. They'll get extended if railways sees the feasibility or even if strong politics is involved.

Trains aren't some status symbol, regular people don't even care if they're sitting in some random special or a named train as long as it takes them to their destinations.

You can get a thousand trains, or maybe get none e.g. Rajgir area, but will that change what the city has to offer? Or what is the potential of that city? Or what are the living standards of people in that city? No.

As I've commented earlier, trains aren't life. Being a fan is okay, but making them a matter of life or ego is equally bad.

Hope people understand this and indulge in constructive discussions. Many older members have already left this site, due to the undue politics and controversies. If that keeps happening all that will remain is a fish market with no knowledgeable source in sight.

In the end it's mostly political support which can get your new trains or extend existing ones or in some cases extensions or terminal changes happen due to operational issues.
Also you are right that trains are not life but they are just a small part of life for most people and slightly bigger for railfans. There are much more important things to focus in life than just trains and railfanning. I think it's most of the young teenage folks that are making it an obsession.

Unwanted politics tend to ruin good things. Trains are just a part of it. If demands are justified, it's okay. But no feasibility studies, no demands, and extensions based on pure ignorance are the epitome of the political circus.

Growing up, I've traveled so much in trains. They've a special place in my life. Even my insta bio says I'm a railfan. I've traveled more than half of the country, mostly by trains. I love to gather more information about trains, so yes, they're a big part of my life, too.

It feels bad if your favorite train is played with. But that's all we can do. Even if I write a thousand blogs here, I won't be influencing the IR or politics. But by creating controversies, I can surely make people call me out or just make me a laughing stock.
