लखनऊ से कानपुर के बीच वंदे मेट्रो ट्रेन जुलाई के पहले हफ्ते में पटरी पर उतर सकती है। इसकी तैयारियां तेजी से पूरी की जा रही हैं। ट्रेन 45 मिनट में कानपुर पहुंचेगी। इसके अतिरिक्त चार अन्य रूटों पर भी वंदे मेट्रो ट्रेनें चलाई जाएंगी।

बजट में वंदे मेट्रो ट्रेनों को चलाने की घोषणा की गई थी। इन ट्रेनों को इंटरसिटी की तर्ज पर कम दूरी के शहरों के लिए चलाया जाना है। मसलन, सौ से 250 किमी दूरी के लिए इन ट्रेनों को रेलवे चलाएगा।

इसके लिए पहले चरण में 50 ट्रेनों को तैयार कर लिया गया है। उम्मीद जताई जा रही है कि चुनाव पूरा होते ही लखनऊ से कानपुर के बीच वंदे मेट्रो की सौगात यात्रियों को मिल जाएगी। यह ट्रेन 130 किमी प्रति घंटे की रफ्तार से चलेगी। इससे महज 45 मिनट में ही कानपुर पहुंच जाएगी। रेलवे बोर्ड के एक अधिकारी ने बताया कि देशभर में अगले तीन से चार साल में 400 वंदे मेट्रो ट्रेनें चलाई जाएंगी। पहले चरण में तैयार 50 ट्रेनें 124 शहरों को एक-दूसरे से जोड़ेंगी। वंदे मेट्रो में चार से लेकर 16 तक बोगियां होंगी। प्रत्येक बोगी में 100 यात्रियों के बैठने की व्यवस्था होगी तथा 180 खड़े होकर यात्रा करेंगे।

इन शहरों को भी जोड़ेगी : लखनऊ से कानपुर के अतिरिक्त शाहजहांपुर, वाराणसी, गोरखपुर, अयोध्या रूट पर वंदे मेट्रो ट्रेनें चलाने की तैयारी है। इससे बड़ी संख्या में दैनिक यात्रियों को राहत हो जाएगी। अनुमान के अनुसार रोजाना 55 से 60 हजार यात्री लाभान्वित होंगे ।।

Whilst the CNB-ALD section runs at/beyond capacity and the trend is similar for CNB-ON-LKO section; we have tracks running from Unnao-Sitapur which are woefully underutilized and see only a single pair of passenger train per day. Same is for the ON-RBL tracks which too has too little trains. IR ought to upgrade these sections both to benefit passengers on this route and exploring alternate routes.

It'll help connect CNB with STP more efficiently. Also, I find it ironical that Kanpur-Allahabad has an alternate route sitting right next to the main route that...

is only ~14 km long. If that route is doubled and speeds upgraded, trains can easily find a way from CNB to ALD without choking on the main line.
