Matheran is a QUITE and scenic hill station near Mumbai where motored vehicle are not allowed. It is located in western Ghats at 804 meters above MSL. The Matheran Hill Railway ( 2 Ft NG ) was built in 1907 by Sir Adamjee Peerbhoy and covers a distance of 21 Kms from Neral, the starting point on CSTM-KARJAT section. The train service remains suspended during 5 months of Monsoon from June To October..
