It was really a good fortune that I got to visit a little bit of NFR before the pangs of electrification reached there. later; for now let the focus be on this Journey. Here I Present to you the first part of my Journey in 13149 Kanchankanya Exp; the most recommended trains by RFs in Kolkata to explore the Dooars.
This video covers the Journey up to New Jalpaiguri; inclusive of some interesting spottings. Avinash Patil (Its AP - The RAIL MANIA) happened to accompany me in this NFR trip, for which I am thankful to him. Please do enjoy the Journey. 2nd part will come soon. NFR's WDP4 #20051 in LHF Mode from SGUJ goes bonkers, blowing its trumpets continuously with 12501 Guwahati-New Delhi 'Poorvottar Sampark Kranti Express'. 2 military coaches too were attached just behind the loco.

Normal running of train in the New Jalpaiguri – Aluabari section got affected today due to an incident of fire in one of the train engine of 15904 UP Chandigarh - Dibrugarh Express. The incident occurred at about 11-20 hrs near Chaterhat station about 20 km from New Jalpaiguri. One engine and one luggage cum guard compartment got damaged due to the incident.

Immediately on receipt of the information, Fire Brigrade team left from New Jalpaiguri for the site. Railway Medical team alongwith accident relief train also left immediately for the site. The unaffected coaches were detached and brought back to Chaterhat station by attaching another engine. Divisional Railway Manager of Katihar Division alongwith other senior officials from New Jalpaiguri, Katihar are at site. General Manager / N.F. Railway Shri Sanjive Roy also left for the site.
Two bodies were recovered from the site by railway medical team. Which were brought to North Bengal Medical College for necessary action. Apparently the bodies do not have any burn signs.
As a result of the incident down trains like 12423 and 20503 Dibrugarh - New Rajdhani Express trains, 15644 Kamakhya –Puri Express, 12508 Silchar – Trivandrum Express and 13247 Kamakhya – Rajendranagar Capital Express were diverted to run via Siliguri Jn – Bagdogra – Aluabari section. All UP trains coming towards New Jalpaiguri are also being diverted via Aluabari – Bagdogra - Siliguri Jn.
The affected Chandigarh - Dibrugarh Express left Chaterhat station at 03-35 pm for New Jalpaiguri. Efforts are on to clear the section for restoring normal train running. An inquiry by the Commissioner of Railway Safety, Northeast Frontier Railway, Kolkata under Ministry of Civil Aviation, Govt. of India has been ordered into the incident. click here click here
