992 special trains during the Kumbh Mela, a significant increase from the 572 trains run in 2019. Over 300 special trains will be operational on the occasion of Mauni Amavasya. The railways have also designed a one-way pedestrian route from the stations to the mela area to manage the crowds. Six emergency plans are in place, and 90 holding areas have been identified at the stations to manage congestion and ensure the safety of the pilgrims.

Due to non-interlocking work related to the doubling of the railway track between Prayagraj-Rambag and Prayagraj Junction, several trains have been canceled or their routes altered between Varanasi and Prayagraj stations.
