The investigation into the mechanical rack derailment of a goods train at Narayanpur Anant station on Wednesday is also expected to be completed on Monday. The JAG committee is expected to submit its full report to the DRM on Monday. The railway has already taken action against the station master in this case, and two other employees are under investigation. The joint investigation report had held six individuals responsible for the accident.

As part of the Swachhta Pakhwada (Cleanliness Fortnight), a cleaning drive was conducted at Muzaffarpur Junction on Sunday, including the railway tracks, drains, platforms, circulating area, and railway colony. After the cleaning, bleaching powder was sprayed in all areas. The fortnight will continue until October 2nd.

Swachhta Pakhwada ke andar, Muzaffarpur Junction pe, Sunday ko, railway track, drains, platforms, circulating area, aur railway colony sab ki safai ki gayi. Safai ke baad, sab jagah pe bleaching powder ka chidkaav kiya gaya. Yeh pakhwada 2nd October tak chalta rahega.

The 05289 Muzaffarpur-Pune Special Express was being shunted to platform 4 when shunting driver Vinod Kumar, while moving the DP engine towards the shunting net, moved the engine towards the junction without a shunt signal. This resulted in the engine derailing at the drill point. Senior officials of the division were informed about the incident. The engine was manually lifted. This is the second derailment incident in four days between Muzaffarpur and Narayanpur. Senior officials directed the taking of a blood sample from shunting driver Vinod Kumar to check for alcohol consumption. Initial investigation suggests negligence on the part of Vinod Kumar, and a preliminary report has been sent to headquarters. Disciplinary action could be taken against the driver if found guilty after the investigation on Sunday.
