the Viraangana Lakshmibai Express, which usually terminates at Prayagraj Junction, will end its journey at Fatehpur during the major bathing festivals of the Kumbh Mela. Furthermore, several train services have been extended during specific periods: January 12-16, January 28 - February 5, February 11-14, and February 25-28. Train number 11801/11802 Viraangana Lakshmibai Express (Jhansi-Prayagraj) will be operated up to Fatehpur. Train number 11273/11274 Itarsi-Prayagraj Chheoki will terminate at Chunar station. Train numbers 03333/03334 and 04193/04194 Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya-Subedarganj will be operated up to Fatehpur. Train number 04181/04182 Kanpur Central-Subedarganj will run until Chunar, while 04129/04130 Kanpur Central-Fatehpur Memu will be extended to Prayagraj Junction. Train number 04103/04104 Kanpur Central-Funfud will also be operated up to Prayagraj. Finally, train number 04159/04160 Kanpur Central-Etawah Memu will arrive and depart from Fatehpur.

The Varanasi-Delhi Vande Bharat will extend its route to Prayagraj to facilitate the transportation of school children. The children will be brought to Varanasi on this train and returned on another. Similarly, students and scout guides from Prayagraj will participate in the inaugural journey of the Agra-Varanasi Vande Bharat. The Railway will provide food and water for all participants. The Railway is issuing special passes for children on these inaugural trial runs. The 8-coach Agra Vande Bharat will have a total of 530 seats, including 478 in chair car and 52 in executive class. The Varanasi-New Delhi Vande Bharat Express will see an increase of 312 chair car seats, bringing the total seat count to 1440. This includes 104 seats in executive class. Currently, this train has 1128 seats across all classes. NCR's CPRO Shashikant Tripathi has stated that the notification for the Vande Bharat is yet to be released but preparations are complete.

In preparation for the Kumbh Mela 2025, the Indian Railways has initiated crowd management plans. The line box, which contains essential railway equipment including explosives, is currently carried by train managers and loco pilots in their respective cabins. The new trolley bag is considered less secure and poses a risk to the safety of the staff. The protest was led by Rajeev Mishra, zonal secretary of the All India Guard Council, who expressed concerns about the security of explosives in the trolley bag and the lack of a safe and secure place for train managers to sit in freight trains.
