The family members arrived at Rahul Nagar upon receiving the news and took the body away from the railway tracks. The Karja police station police reached Ruparwa after being informed about the incident. Following a preliminary investigation, the body was taken into custody and sent to SKMCH for postmortem. The police then reached the incident site in Rahul Nagar. During the investigation, they collected information from the gateman of the Damodarpur railway crossing and from the residents of the surrounding area. Bakhtpur, Kanti, was rushing to board the train with her family. Platforms 1 to 3 were packed with exam candidates, leading to chaos as the train departed. Aarti Devi's foot slipped as she attempted to board the moving train, resulting in her falling under it. The train was halted, and RPF personnel along with her companion, Awadhesh Kumar, rescued her and rushed her to the Sadar Hospital, from where she was referred to SKMCH but died en route. SKMCH doctors confirmed her death upon arrival at the emergency ward. RPF authorities claimed that CCTV footage showed Aarti Devi trying to board the moving train, which contradicted the account of her family. They further stated that Aarti Devi was traveling to Delhi with her brother and had reserved berths 11 and 12 in coach G1 of the Garib Rath.
