Governor of Jharkhand, had requested the doubling of this line. The Member of Parliament from Jamshedpur, Vijayvaran Mahato, has been advocating for the doubling of this line since 2017. Since the establishment of Tata Steel, goods trains have been transporting minerals on the single line to Badampahar. There are now four express trains running from Badampahar, including the Badampahar-Santragachi-Badampahar weekly express, Badampahar-Rourkela-Badampahar weekly express, Badampahar-Tatanagar express, and Tata-Badampahar MEMU. The Badampahar and Rairang railway stations are being upgraded under the Amrit Bharat scheme. The stations are undergoing improvements including a footbridge, sheds, toilets, and drinking water facilities. Additionally, the color of bedrolls provided in air-conditioned coaches will be changed from white to colored. This change was initiated on the New Delhi-Ranchi Rajdhani train by the Northern Railway and follows a request by former Rajya Sabha MP Samir Oraon. The Badampahar in Odisha is significant for the Chakradharpur Railway Division in terms of revenue generation. A plan is underway to connect Aunlajori, Gorumahisani, and Badampahar to Banspani, Juruli, Nayagarh, and other sections, making it easier to transport goods to the Paradeep port. The Prime Minister recently approved new lines for Badampahar-Kendujhargarh (82 km) and Gorumahisani-Bangriposi (85 km). The increasing train traffic on the Howrah-Mumbai-Mumbai and Odisha routes will see a reduction in travel time for trains going to Puri and Bhubaneswar with the construction of the Tatanagar-Badampahar-Gorumahisani-Kendujhargarh and Bangriposi lines.

This route will offer new transportation options for passengers in Kolhan and various branch lines in Odisha. Tatanagar will serve as the maintenance hub for the Brahmapur Vande Bharat train, with other stations taking over maintenance responsibilities to ensure a dedicated pit line for the train. Two new Vande Bharat train rakes are ready for launch, expected before August 15th. Meanwhile, preparations are underway in Chakradharpur for the launch of Vande Bharat Express trains between Tatanagar and Patna, and Tatanagar and Banaras. The ceremony held at the Burmamines second gate of Tatanagar station was attended by MLA Sarayu Roy, BJP District President Sudhanshu Ojha, MP representative Sanjeev Kumar, Chakradharpur Rail Division's ADRM Ajit Kumar, Senior DCM Gajraj Singh Charan, Tatanagar ARM Abhishek Singhal, Station Superintendent RK Gupta, CCI Anjani Roy, OP Yadav, along with women's organizations, NCC and civil defense cadets, school students, and railway employees. Senior DCM Gajraj Singh Charan informed that similar development projects and passenger amenities were inaugurated at other stations within the rail division. PM Modi also highlighted the 'One Station One Product' initiative, which fosters local products and provides opportunities for self-help groups to showcase their region's arts, culture, cuisine, and other aspects. This initiative has seen stalls opened at Tatanagar, Adityapur, Gamharia, Sini, Birarajpur, Rajgangpur, Chaibasa, Chakradharpur, Kandra, Bamra, Jharsuguda, Rourkela, and Rairangpur stations, with different organizations managing them for a month each.
