Every holiday season, IR runs these lame specials that use a full rake , run only a few days a week and are unpredictable given path constraints.
This one rake can be utilized for a daily day train from each side in a much more efficient manner:
12417...
more... departs PRYJ, arrives NDLS, PFTR and departs as NDLS PRYJ Day SPL, reaches PRYJ by the night
Next morning, the same rake departs as PRYJ NDLS Day SPL, PFTR (or maybe a few hours in the yard given the cleaning has to be up to 12418 standards) and depart as 12418, arrives PRYJ next morning.
And the cycle repeats.
It'll save yard space at NDLS in peak season, platform usage will be more efficient end priority will be ensured because NCR knows it has to return as one of its highest profile trains.
Yes, we'll lose out on one overnight trip but given the delays these specials face, nobody's guaranteed that their day will be saved.
please wait...Translate to EnglishEvery damn holiday season, Indian Railways runs these freaking lame specials that use a whole damn train, only run a few days a week, and you never know when they'll come because of all the damn restrictions and shit.
Here's a better idea: we can just use the same damn train every day, going in both directions, and make it way more efficient.
The train departs from PRYJ, arrives at NDLS, sits for a bit, and then departs as NDLS PRYJ Day Spl, and arrives back at PRYJ at night.
The next morning, the same train departs as PRYJ NDLS Day Spl, stops for a bit (maybe for cleaning), and then departs as 12418, arriving back at PRYJ the next morning.
And then the whole damn thing starts again.
This way, we'll save yard space at NDLS during the busiest time, platform usage will be more efficient, and the train will always have high priority because it's an important damn train.
Yeah, sure, we'll miss out on one overnight trip, but considering how late these specials are usually, nobody's guaranteed that they'll even make it on time.
