One should be enough.
they didn't divert they skipped Barrackpore. Original Station of dep was Barrackpore, later then extended it upto Kolkata Chitpur.
That's what I wrote earlier, Entry# 5027737. Skipping Barrackpore (BP) was the point.
Switching of a train from up mainline (line no-3) to platform 1 is not possible by present barrackpore yard layout. And express trains only run through up mainline between Sealdah/kolkata-barrackpore, so it can only arrive on pf3 (14 coach) or pf1A (12 coach)
Only trains from up suburban line (line no-1) can switch to platform no-1.

NAMITADE~ 87 blog postsDespite its name, "Pratham Swatantra Sangram", this particular train has NO stop at Barrackpore (BP) (Intermediate station between Kolkata-KOAA and Naihati Jn-NH). I guess that misses the real history of Barrackpore, which was the first regiment, where the Pratham Swatantra Sangram of 1857 was initiated by Mangal Pandey at the very Barrackpore Cantonment. Too bad, we are too focused on Mughal History and miss the history our very own struggle for the freedom. (Sic!)
