I traveled by West Coast Express on Friday (24th Nov). The departure station was changed from MAQ to MAJN on that day.
This train is the last departure from Mangalore Central (23:45 hrs).
Mangalore is a city where public transport starts to disappear after 8 PM, and we cannot imagine any at 10 PM.

Like me many passengers came to Central station. The Auto Rickshaw drivers were having their hay day. From Central to Junction they were charging Rs. 200 /- and the irony is they were not allowing two strangers to share the auto. They insisted each one to take separate auto to reach Junction.
The Mangalore Junction is a place which is not easy to reach. Its tucked deep inside some lane and reaching that place in dark is unimaginable for a new person to the city
The train started 30 - 45 minutes behind schedule ,and reached Chennai 1 hour late.
Railways should realize that and should have talked to either KSRTC or done elaborate arrangements for stranded passengers.

Man, Mangalore is a city where public transport just vanishes after 8 PM. It's crazy to even think about having any transportation at 10 PM.
A lot of us passengers showed up at Central station. Those Auto Rickshaw drivers were loving it. They were charging Rs. 200/- from Central to Junction, and can you believe they wouldn't let two strangers share one auto? They insisted that each person take a separate auto to reach the Junction.
Mangalore Junction is a hard place to get to. It's hidden deep in some alley, and trying to find it in the dark is impossible for someone new to the city.
The train started 30 - 45 minutes late and reached Chennai 1 hour behind schedule.
The Railways should really get it together and either talk to KSRTC or make some proper arrangements for stranded passengers.
