The MEMU departed Dhanbad at 2:25 PM, while the goods train originated from Sindri. The goods train was supposed to travel from Rakshitpur to Pradhankhunta and then onto the Dhanbad-Howrah main line. The incident caused a stir within the railway department, with senior officials ordering the MEMU driver and guard to be relieved at Rakshitpur and their subsequent suspension. The driver and guard, both belonging to the Adra Railway Division under the South Eastern Railway, are subject to medical examinations and other procedures. Major charge sheets have been issued against them. The Dhanbad railway division has notified the Adra Railway Division about the incident.
