Consequently, passengers opt for regular trains, even if it means paying extra for tatkal (last-minute) or premium tickets. The operating department is neglecting these special trains, leading to delays of up to 22-24 hours, with some trains like the 03418 Malda Town Special being delayed by 23-24 hours and the 01666 Kar train delayed by 11 hours. These delays lead to passenger frustration and empty seats on the special trains.

Special, 12423 Dibrugarh-New Delhi Rajdhani Express, 20503 Dibrugarh-New Delhi Rajdhani Express, 12377 Sealdah-New Alipurduar Padatik Express, 22301 Howrah-New Jalpaiguri Vande Bharat Express, 06105 Nagercoil-Dibrugarh Special, 20506 New Delhi- Dibrugarh Rajdhani Express, and 12424 New Delhi- Dibrugarh Rajdhani Express. These trains are now using the Bagdogra-Siliguri-New Jalpaiguri line via Aluabari junction. Rescue and disaster management teams have successfully removed the damaged compartments from the main train, allowing it to continue its journey towards Sealdah. JCB machines are being used to clear the adjacent railway track, where a portion of the derailed compartments had shifted. Once the track is cleared, train services through that route are expected to return to normal.

Similarly, the service of the special train number 01666 (Agartala-Rani Kamalapati), which departs every Sunday, has been extended until June 30th. Both trains will travel via Ambasa, Dharmanagar, New Haflong, Guwahati, Rangiya, Kishanganj, Barauni Jn, Danapur, Mirzapur, Katni, Itarsi Junction in both directions. Additionally, a Holi special train number 04010 (Anand Vihar - Jogbani) will depart from Anand Vihar at 23:45 on March 26th (Tuesday) and arrive in Jogbani at 05:20 on Thursday. The return train number 04009 (Jogbani - Anand Vihar) will depart Jogbani at 09:00 on March 28th (Thursday) and arrive in Anand Vihar at 16:05 the next day.
