The New Jalpaiguri-New Delhi Superfast Express (12523) was rescheduled to depart at 12:00 hrs. The New Delhi-Dibrugarh Rajdhani Express (20504), Silchar-Sealdah Kanchanjungha Express (13176), and New Jalpaiguri-New Delhi Superfast Express (12523) were diverted. The Kanchanjungha Express accident occurred on Monday morning when a container-laden freight train collided with the train from behind near Rangapani station, approximately 30 kilometers from New Jalpaiguri station. The accident, resulting in the death of about a dozen passengers and injuries to many others, is suspected to have been caused by signal failure. The exact cause, however, will be determined after an investigation.
