Rail traffic on Tirunelveli/Tuticorin-Kovilpatti section was hit for more than two hours after a wagon derailed at Maniyachi at around 4.40 p.m. on Tuesday.
A statement from Southern Railway, Madurai Division, said the fourth wagon of a twenty-three wagon goods train re-railed at 6.55 p.m. and after track fitness certificate was issued at 7 p.m., the freight train was backed to the yard at 7.15 p.m.
The first train to pass the section was Tuticorin-Mysore express train (16235). It was regulated at Milavittan and it started immediately left Maniyachi at 7.34 p.m.
