I have a query regarding the "type" of this train, whether this should be EMU (Kolkata) or just MEMU. There are actually two contradicting facts happening here. So far, I know all the Kolkata based EMUs should have the number 3XXXX and the MEMUs (in general) should have the number 6XXXX.
If we just look into the numbering nomenclature given by SER and ignore other things, this train should be a MEMU type. For some unknown reason, SER is considering all the HLZ bound locals as EMUs, but for DGHA bound locals, it is different. The strange fact is that, I myself have observed the other two "MEMU"s running in this route (TMZ-DGHA). And none of them are actually MEMU, they...
more... are conventional EMU rakes. This train is also having EMU rake.
I asked moderator about his opinion in pvt, and according to him "Our Admins/members from the East will be more capable of resolving this". So, I am re-posting it here again for people's opinion.
#Admin, what should be done? There has to be an equality. We have two options here.
(a) Make this train (68688/68687) type as MEMU, (just following the numbering nomenclature given by SER) and problem solved.
or
(b) Keep this train as it is. But then please change the type of other 2 pairs of trains i.e. 68686/68689 DGHA-SRC and 68690/68685 DGHA-MCA to EMU (Kolkata) from MEMU.
In short, please don't keep two trains as MEMU and one as EMU. Make all 3 of them same (either EMU or MEMU)
