1999-2000 government proposes to introduce 14 new trains this year.
Railway Minister Nitish Kumar disclosed this while presenting the Railway Budget today. The new trains are:
Madras-Tirupati Shatabdi Express
Shalimar-Haldia Intercity Express

Amritsar-Darbhanga Express via Secunderabad (biweekly)

Guwahati-Madras Express (biweekly)
Delhi-Gandhidham Express (biweekly)
Delhi-Coimbatore Express (weekly)
Pune-Ernakulam Express (weekly)
Raichur-Gulbarga Intercity Service
Kamakhya-New Bongaigaon Passenger
Patna-Mughalasari Passenger via Gaya.
The minister also announced that the frequency of four express trains would be increased.
Howrah-Purulia Express will run daily instead of the present six days a week.
The frequency of Bangalore-Visakhapatnam Express will be increased from two days a week to four days a week.
The Pune-Ahmedabad Ahimsa Express will be increased from three days to four days a week.
Kurla-Howrah Super Deluxe Express will now run three days a week instead of once a week.
