* Best option is that IR become efficient, and free of corruption. But 70 years of past experience give a little hope.
* Privatisation does not mean IR and its shall be sold off, it means entry of private sectors also who will competitor with IR on a level playing field provided through a regulating authority which shall have members from govt as well as pvt sectors. more... surviving as it is learning to get better & better. Now public don't have to face waiting period or have to bribe to get new phone/mobile connections.
* Privatisation does not necessary mean a very bright future. It has to be done properly and in right spirit.
* Govt has its own limitations, it cannot recruit best candidates, as till now 50% of candidates are selected on merit & 50% through reservation. (Politicians are trying hard to increase this %, but Supreme court guidelines have prevented them to go beyond 50%). It is difficult to promote a good work culture because officially or unofficially reservation is there in promotions also, which acts a big demotivation for the good performers.
* Before liberalisation (pre 1991), best graduates were joining the govt jobs as there were negligible good opportunities in Good pvt/Multinational Cos. But today best talents head for Multinational/Pvt Cos. due to much better opportunities given by them.
