Intra-Gujrat intercities from ADI are not successful because are unable to compete with efficient road network/services which in turn is due to slower and single lines on most of these routes. Routes have to be upgraded/doubled to increase train speeds.
(1) Valsad-Ahmedabad (299kms) is a high pax density route and the RR/JS will make good sense. It would be better to extend the train to Vapi(325km)/Bhilad(336km) as there is a good traffic from Vapi, the major industrial centre of the region.
(2) ADI-RJT-JAM-DWK-Okha would be good option, but the distance of 498km...
more... shall take atleast 9hrs as the route is slow making the RR/JS impractical. Only if the route is upgraded & journey completed in 7:30 hrs, this option is best. Else the train has to be short terminated to Dwarka(469km) or Jamnagar(331km) depending on speed.
(3) Bhavnagar-Ahmedabad (298km)is a viable & very good option only after ADI-Botad guage conversion is completed to provide shortest route (266km).
(4) Ahmedabad-Gandhidham-Bhuj route does not have chaircar type train, but there are no big cities on the route.
(5) Ahmedabad-Rajkot-Veraval-Somnath 437 km is also very good route
