The work is expected to be completed within 30 months and will include a double-decker viaduct near Yelahanka, the first of its kind in India, where a suburban rail elevated viaduct will be built below the Bengaluru Metro viaduct near Benniganahalli. The Kanaka Line is part of the 149 km Bengaluru Suburban Rail Project, approved by the Union government in October 2020, and is being implemented in phases. With this contract award, 72.08 km of civil work has been awarded, covering approximately 50% of the project. The project is being funded by loans from KfW, Germany and the European Investment Bank (EIB) with tenders for other corridors expected to be released soon.
