The Chennai Metro Rail Limited will be taking over the operations of the Beach-Velachery electric train service. An initial study by the Chennai Metro Rail Limited in December focused on the Thiruvallikeni and Thirumayilai stations. The Chennai IIT team is also set to conduct a study on these two stations, which includes aerial platforms, and will submit a report to the Chennai Metro Rail Limited. This report will consider factors like commercial development and passenger amenities. Based on the report, the Chennai Metro Rail Limited will be appointing a private company to handle the overall upgrade of all electric train stations.
