Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced the extension of the Gorakhpur-Hatia Maurya Express train to Sambalpur. Jharsuguda, and Sambalpur in Odisha. This decision was made after Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan requested the extension in two letters to Vaishnaw. The extension was part of a larger event where Prime Minister Narendra Modi is inaugurating the permanent campus of IIM, Sambalpur, and laying the foundation stone for various projects worth over Rs 68,000 crore. This includes railway projects worth Rs 2146 crore, including the redevelopment of Sambalpur railway station, the Sambalpur-Talcher Doubling Railway Line, the Jhartarbha to Sonepur New Railway line, and the flagging off of the Puri-Sonepur-Puri Weekly Express.

Extension ek bada event ka part hai, jisme Prime Minister Narendra Modi IIM, Sambalpur ka permanent campus inaugurate kar rahe hain aur Rs 68,000 crore se zyada ke projects ka foundation stone rakhe hain. Isme Rs 2146 crore ke railway projects bhi shamil hain, jisme Sambalpur railway station ka redevelopment, Sambalpur-Talcher Doubling Railway Line, Jhartarbha to Sonepur New Railway line, aur Puri-Sonepur-Puri Weekly Express ka flag off shamil hai.
