Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone via video link on February 26th. The project is part of a larger plan to modernize 56 stations in Maharashtra, with a total allocation of Rs15,554 crore. The Western Railway's portion of the project will cost Rs4,886 crore, encompassing 46 stations in Gujarat and nine in Madhya Pradesh. In Mumbai, eight suburban stations on the Western Railway (Marine Lines, Charni Road, Grant Road, Lower Parel, Prabhadevi, Jogeshwari, Malad, and Palghar) and 11 on the Central Railway (Byculla, Sandhurst Road, Chinchpokli, Wadala Road, Matunga, Kurla, Vidyavihar, Mumbra, Diva, Shahad, and Titwala) will be upgraded. The Central Railway's project will also include the Igatpuri station. Work on the Central Railway upgrades is expected to be completed by March 2025.
