it easier for residents and businesses in Digha to travel to these destinations. The 72 km rail extension project was approved in 2011-12 and aims to transform Digha by attracting more tourists and boosting local businesses. The project was delayed due to land acquisition issues, requiring 507 acres of land, of which 137 acres are in West Bengal and 370 acres in Odisha. Despite the initial delay, the project is expected to be completed soon, with the Railway Minister, Ashwini Kumar Vaishnaw, assuring its completion. The project is anticipated to ease congestion on the existing Howrah-Kharagpur-Jaleswar route to southern India, which is currently heavily utilized. This new line will provide a faster and safer alternative for passengers, reducing travel time to Puri by three hours.
