Prime Minister Narendra Modi will virtually inaugurate the new railway line from Sonwal to Ghazipur City and Ghat stations on Sunday. He will also flag off a train from Ghazipur City to Dildarnnagar Junction, signifying the commencement of train services across the river Ganga. This project, which was initiated in 2016, connects the Kolkata-Delhi main route to the Ballia-Chhapra-Mau route, enhancing connectivity for the districts of Purvanchal and connecting them to major cities. The project also includes a 1027.5-meter-long rail-cum-road bridge with a width of 16.9 meters. The bridge is designed to carry a weight of 26,000 tonnes and has 52 spherical bearings, 4 jointers, and 170 panels. The bridge is illuminated with lights costing ₹1.5 crores.
