Force (RPF), marked the buildings and pasted notices on them the day before the demolition. While the railway team claimed the structures were built on railway land, the owners disputed the claim, stating they were on government land. After clearing the buildings, the demolition began at 2 pm and continued till 5 pm. One resident, Shakuntala Sonkar, who claimed to have lived there for 70 years, was distraught over the loss of her home. Local residents reported that 30 property owners received notices in late January regarding the demolition for the RUB construction. The owners were heard before the demolition commenced and notices were pasted on the buildings the night before the demolition. Engineers from the Lucknow Division of North Railway explained that the demolition is necessary for the construction of the RUB and will continue as required.
