State requests Railways to extend Sabari rail to Vizhinjam from Erumely

The Kerala government has requested the Railway Board to extend the proposed Angamaly-Erumely Sabari rail line to Thiruvananthapuram. This extension, costing an additional ₹1,000 crore, would link the proposed Sabarimala international airport and Vizhinjam international seaport, creating a vital transport corridor. The project was initially deemed uneconomical due to a...

low projected rate of return in 2013. However, Kerala's increased traffic and the upcoming Vizhinjam port necessitate a new rail line. The proposed alignment, which would run parallel to MC Road, would cover 160 km, connecting Nedumangad to the rail network, as per Railway's new norms for towns with a population exceeding 50,000. The government urges the Centre to include this project in the Rail Sagar Scheme, citing the existing rail line's inability to handle the rising demand. The extension would also link the Sabarimala airport, making it the third rail corridor for Kerala and reducing dependence on roads.

Kerala government ne Railway Board se request kiya hai ki Angamaly-Erumely Sabari rail line ko Thiruvananthapuram tak extend karein. Yeh extension, jo ki ₹1,000 crore extra kharch karega, proposed Sabarimala international airport aur Vizhinjam international seaport ko connect karega, ek important transport corridor banakar. Project pehle 2013 mein low rate...

of return ke wajah se un-economical mana gaya tha. Lekin, Kerala mein badhte traffic aur aane wala Vizhinjam port, ek new rail line ki jarurat hai. Proposed alignment, jo ki MC Road ke parallel chalega, 160 km cover karega, Nedumangad ko rail network se connect karega, Railway ke new norms ke according, jisme 50,000 se zyada population wale towns ko rail network se connect karna hai. Government Centre se request kar raha hai ki yeh project ko Rail Sagar Scheme mein include karein, existing rail line ki increasing demand handle karne ki inability ka reason dete hue. Extension, Sabarimala airport ko bhi connect karega, yeh Kerala ka third rail corridor ban jayega aur roads aur existing over-saturated rail line pe dependancy kam ho jayegi.

These days, every other day, we are getting requests from members to allow email login to their FB-based IRI account. 10 years ago, we had given the option for users to login through FaceBook - in retrospect, this was a mistake. These days, apparently, users are quitting FaceBook in droves because...
